That I deal with nevers seems to be able to see the problem. Adding More Information If you would like to help the Modified Life community by adding any missing information or adding a new light bulb size information to our resource, please feel free to post it at the bottom of this page. Look how much we paid for these vehicles. It had fluid but it was black. We have gotten our first winter storm of the season here in the kansas city area, and I have discovered a problem. When I bring it in to the dealer now they claim nothing registers on the diagnostics. My experience starts at post 20 and there are good pics by azdevildog0311.
Thanks for any help you may have! I'm thinking it may not be the switch, or maybe it is, I don't know. I figured, no big deal and I just keep a small screw drivers in my center console. If you look under the dash up along the brake pedal 'arm' i guess you could call it, there with be a little switch resting up against the arm not all that far up, you should see it without having to disassemble anything, but again, could be different. I looked up there, saw it and tried to wiggle it, it's loose. I really do not have a good feeling about this repair. This problem exists in the 2002 and 2003 explorers and possible other ford products.
The part number is 84764. Bought from a ford dealership so just assumed all suggested maintenance items had been taken care of. Mind you, Ford regional mgr extended my warranty at his expense and he's none too happy with that. I will talk to the service manager again and see if he will fix it right? Got pulled over by a sheriff couple of nights ago for this one. Use of the replacement bulb size information is at your own risk.
The tech there told me that Ford had been experiencing problems with the rear end on some of their 02s. If the switch was totally disconnected when you did this, it tells me the problem is in the cluster or stereo backlighting. Had this been a camper, it could have caused a fire. The counter man also recommended that I use a heat transfer silicon type salve smeared on the base of the replacement brake lamps, which I bought. My explorer overdrive light kept blinking on and off and now my transmission is cooked. It has been working great ever since. Depending on the year, there may be one fuse for all three brake.
The entire switch has been modified and new wiring was needed to change this switch out. If it is, I've been without brake lights for the better part of a year or so lol. Needless to say, we are currently checking into the lemon law for our state!!! I have had a whole host of problems. If checking and replacing the fuse for the component in question doesn't work, we recommend seeking assistance from a trusted professional mechanic. I also seem to be having problems with the 4wheel low light flashing. I asked the service manager how is it possible to replace 3 ring and pinions? Simple trouble shooting allows one to conclude that the gears are not the problem.
My front end suspension has been fixed. If your dash lights are not working check your fuse block, see owners manual, it is most likely that the fuse has blown. All these problems and Ford is doing nothing? So the wire connection that I unclick and pull out should then plug into the new switch the same way? Some Fords have multiple interior fuse boxes including in the trunk - the video above will show you where the interior fuse box of your 2002 Explorer is located. We have owned Honda and Toyota for ~10 years no major problems. There has to be something, we as consumers can do.
It goes away when I release from the accelerator. We shouldn't have to pay for their screw ups. It seems that it slow shifting between 1-2 or 2-3, I'm not sure. I'm seriously considering a class action lawsuit. In the past 8 months, the vehicle has been towed in because it woudn't start--acomputer chip was replaced. The dealer told me that they checked it but didn't see any metal flakes so they ruled that out. Dunno if this related to the shiting issue or not, or if its a different setup with the third gens, but both my dad and me have 2nd gens, and had the same brake light issue.
Does anyone know what the issue is? Trying to fix brake light switch! I miss my dash lights! The tranny adjusted at 15k. Funny how it does it every day for me, though. I have had a whole host of problems. Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed. A car with 55, 000 should not be crapping out like this.
