Mark the differential and drive shaft before removing drive shaft. Push on the door at the same time, when the latch is pushed. I would not drill out the rivets in the handle. The kit comes with a hinge that you install on the opposite side of the door from where the factory one is installed. Wouldn't do this with a ratchet as you'll end up with a handful of ratchet parts.
I purchased a set of four about a month ago from somewhere else with the correct size heads and fixed the drivers side door in about 30 mins. Course you have to do this before its stripped out. The screw I used was not exactly the same size as the original pin was so the pivot piece had some play in it and did not quite push the down far enough to unlatch the door so I put two small nuts to act as washers on the bottom of the linkage rod so it would push down a little more, now it works like a charm, on the other door the linkage rod had just come out of it's hole in the door latch assembly, all I had to do was pull the inside door handle, which lowered the door latch piece and guided the rod back into its hole as I released the inside door handle and now it works too, took about an hour for both doors, a fairly easy fix, hope this helps. I had the problem in my Ranger and bought the cable end kit. In the link below they are shown as Item E With the window all the way down, carefully use a long flat tip screwdriver, to push down on the lever for the door latch mechanism, to open the door. One helpful tip I would say is to remove the speakers so you can really access the location of this part easier when it comes down to tightening it down into place with pliers.
It is probably a good idea to replace this as it will come apart again. Don't know what caused the fracture, but an application of Super Glue fixed the intact plastic end and I fixed it without needing these parts. I'm trying to orient your location with front and rear rather then left and right because it depends on which door you are working on. Looked at all the videos and read the post. Make sure that it goes to the full Unlocked position. Now taking the top latch off I got two of the three torques bolts out but the bottom one won't budge. Apparently something inside is broken or stuck and I have done all I know to do to get it to open short of breaking something.

So took some bailing wire drilled a small hole and tied the cable off to the door frame. The Haynes repair manual does not cover this relatively simple process. I personally have a 1994 f150 and I had to take the hub out, which consists of a few Alan head screws then you remove the hub asseembly and then it requires a specialty socket to take out 2 more bolts in the hub. The Ford Ranger extended cab back door upper and handle which come with lower cable for both doors cost approx 500 bucks. My face is now recognized at most of them, I have a very good repore at them.
That connector is probably in the door. Owners will be notified directly. I still haven't replaced mine, the door rattles a bit, but it opens. Please note for the f150 and f250 suicide doors, the little plastic pieces that hold the cable on back there are notorious for braking and the cables go bad frequently too. Push the lights all the way in off and press and hold the button while pulling the knob out.

The cable is redesigned with metal ends far superior to the crumbly end that it was originally designed with. You will need to shave off burrs on the cable ends since the new metal pieces will not slide on without some work. If you have already stripped it out sometimes the next size up bit will fit just enough to get the job done.
Let me go look, its been a while. I am unable to open either of the rear doors on the pickup. The third door doesn't budge, and I have tried removing the paneling to see the problem. I had to grind and file away the metal on the very end of the piece so that it would slip into the latch assembly. Not as easy at it appears from what they show you in the videos, but not overly problematic. It is very difficult to change it.
There's more than one possible thing which can be wrong with it, and you won't be able to make repairs until you know what that is. Then remove the electrical connections at the speed sensor and the 4 wheel actuator. You can check that it is in all the way by looking through the slot in the ferrule. This cost a little more, but is a more permanent repair than some of the repair videos using zip ties that i watched. There was just a bit of friction that might allow the unit to function if only one cable end was being replaced. A few screws and then the panel just lifts out. Any help would be appreciated.
