The car seems to run better since replacing 4 coil on plug. You need to find a shop that specializes in diagnostic troubleshooting. I have an extended warranty my sisters 2001 corolla has the check engine light on, took it in to the dealer, they found a dirty air filter and said the mass air flow sensor needed to be replaced. When I got home, I called them back and told them. Do you do the marketing for them? He found nothing else out of order. If the check-engine light is flashing, you should visit your mechanic or dealer as soon as possible. You can try to fashion something up that resembles the Toyota special service tool - but may just be easier to buy or borrow one, if you can.
Needless to say, I was not happy with the diagnosis nor the price. The mechanic opened the hood and snapped a hose down tighter and then cleared the code. My check engine light came on today after a rough idling start. They say there is nothing else they can do. At one point, it came on four separate times in one month. I think we are beating this check engine light to death here.
They told me to be there at 5 to pick it up. Not with a double mortgage. After loosening the bolt on the battery cable terminal, lift the cable from the battery post and position it so it is not touching any part of the post. Once again, I go back, they pull the dust cover remove 2 spark plugs, and show me evidence of a little oil on one of the cylinders and told me what could happen in time. This car was such a pain in the ass. Toyota offered an engine oil gel program for many of their other vehicles that had been changing the oil every 3-5000 miles and the engine gelled up.
Some times you may have to drive with scanner attached if it is a intermittent problem. The next morning they told me it wasn't in gear and was fine. If that doesn't work, chances are you need to replace the Oxygen Sensors. You just need to remove it from the engine which is located next to the airfilter. It starts after this, but, check engine light is on. You will need a scanner to reset the EngineCheckLight Autozone or a friend or I think it will automatically reset after about 40 times you start the car? A faulty gas cap will increase harmful emissions and can negatively impact efficiency if not replaced.
But today, it kept stalling numerous times. Spark plugs ignite the air-fuel mixture and power your engine while spark plug wires transfer that spark from the ignition coil to spark plugs. It doesn't effect the performance of the car, but the light certainly brings many of us worries if driving off to somewhere far that it may fail. When I got home, I called them back and told them. Does it mean if the battery is disconnected and reconnected, my remote entry key code will not work and has to be reset? While driving home, the check engine light came on again. The emission control system contains an array of sensors that work to reduce the amount of pollution released into the air. We have not yet involved in any crashes or accidents yet because we only use the car locally since we found out about the problem.
What do think the problem may be? The negative battery cable is the black cable. I think I have a lemon. They then supposedly replaced them this time, checked everything, and sent me on my way. Any idea how to get Toyota responsible for this?. Do the dealer know what they are doing???? After the Toyota service on July 14, my son took it to the highway for a spin and came home with the check engine light on again!!!!!! Anything can trigger it, it's best to have the code pulled and you can easily determine what the system is complaining about. This could be caused by a number of reasons, such as bad airflow sensor, vacuum leaks, low fuel pressure, clogged fuel injectors, etc.
Frustrated by the thought of having to take your vehicle into the local service department in conjunction with not knowing the cause, makes that little red light on the dashboard the bane of your existence for that shirt time. I drove 400 kms with no problem. Another one of their technicians took a look at it, opened the dust cover of the engine, and started ranting and raving. The light will go out, but you'll lose the error codes. Something was always wrong with it.
We have not yet involved in any crashes or accidents yet because we only use the car locally since we found out about the problem. Regards, Tony Oct 15, 2011 Hi, it is possible it may require other schedualed services and you are being reminded. So I do speak with experience and confidence. The car is drivable, but there is a lag when you accelerate from a stop or when moving unless you give it alot of throttle it will stall when accelerating from a stop. Replacing a catalytic converter can be costly, so have the engine checked as soon as possible by a certified mechanic. The manager that was previously there was not there, but, I spoke with another man there about the cable.
Did any of you guys changed O2 sensors and if so which ones did you change? It will also negatively impact performance and fuel economy ratings. The check engine light can mean a variety of things. A faulty airflow sensor will cause your check engine light to come on in addition to damaging spark plugs, O2 sensors and a catalytic converter. I am afraid it could be sludge build up or maybe the exhaust system again. Well this car came from california, sold in Arizona to my brother-in-law and I got it from him. Then after he finds out what is the engine light on for, then it's time to go pay the man to fix it.
My mother has a 2001 Corolla and the check engine light came on. Do you do the marketing for them? There may be a lot of things to suspect. If it is not blinking it is typically related to the Emission Control Systems. Usually we stay at the slower lane and immediately pull over when the engine dies down. If this is not the problem have a mechanic check the oxygen sensor. Sometimes I can go a great distance without it stalling again.
