Also i am curious on the book time the dealer uses for changing the thermostat. You may be able to do this by simply disconnecting the battery for a few hours. This piece will have a bolt on both sides of it and to remove it you will just need to take off the bolts. It is positioned in a fairly tight place. The first wire heavy gauge goes to the positive side of the starter. It is actually under car almost exactly lined up with center of passenger door about a foot towards the center.
One at the top and one at the bottom. I had to replace the fuel line on one end since the old one was… Look under the rear part of the cab on the passenger side. On the distributor the rotor should point to the spark-plug wire number one you can make a mark outside of the distributor cap where the number one spark-plug wire is pointing so when you take the cap off you can see if the rotor is pointing the same direction. It is a pain to replace even if you have done a starter on another vehicle… The fuel filter is located under the truck and is held in place by a bracket that is bolted to the passenger side frame rail. It will enter the engine by the alternator. Either pump the brakes and clutch method or buy a vac pump.
Once the old one is off, install the new one you will need to bleed all the brakes and clutch. Faulty Frontier thermostats stick open or closed and cause serious problems. You have two wires going into the terminal that is bolted to the battery post. In the 98 you have to seal it with silicone. Not too surprising, Arizona heat dries these things out, and nine years old. If you have the right tool it might be easier. I looked all over the internet trying to figure out the location of the thermostat because Nissan didn't provide me with any book explaining how to do anything change headlight, etc.
I'm curious though if this is for a 350z or for qx4. The fun part is you will have to modify the mounts in the door by enlarging them slightly. I have a 1998 regular cab Frontier that had two blown speakers. Drain your radiator first, then disconect the clamp on the hose. Follow that hose to where it connects close to the engine, there should be a clamp that holds it in place. Not an auto repair expert? Also if any one has any other suggestions on what could be causing my lack of heat, that would be awesome.
Once out, I was able to remove the hose and replace the valve. I just got underneath my 00 6cyl and it looks easy as pie, there should be two bolts holding it on, you will notice theres a bleeder valve on the unit. It can be done from the top without taking anything else apart, just be careful realigning the new thermostat prior to putting the housing back together. Most radiators also have a separate cooling system built in for transmission fluid. Purchase plenty of fluid never let the resv go low wi … th air.
Remove water drain plug on water pump side of cylinder block. Remove the bolts holding the housing onto the engine and lift the housing to expose the thermostat. If anybody has access to a diagram please help! It cools off the fluid as air passes through the fins while driving, or using a cooling fan to pull the air in at idle. Overall, it is pretty simple. The thermostat's job is to make sure your truck is running at optimal temperatures, which it does by allowing fluids to cool down the heat that builds up in the engine block. Enclosed is a picture of the houseing you will be removing. The clamps tend to eat into the rubber over time and are almost impossible to save. The depth of my speakers were 2.
