Best bet is to use a scan tool to check for fault codes and monitor the switches. Then it should snap in. Slot looks like it might pivot, but does not budge when pushed. Both latches are latched and the microswitch is engaged. If your convertible roof is not properly working, a simple reset of the roof motors should fix the problem.
May 12, 2018 Followup from the Pelican Staff: If the latch is stuck, put pressure on the tonneau cover while you pull the top release. July 24, 2017 Followup from the Pelican Staff: I would check if the top is connected. Going by memory, there are Allen screws near the latch hooks that can be adjusted. Go to e36 section and look under the convertibles for reference. Any help or direction would be appreciated. I've tried to adjust the visible fore and aft adjusters, but that didn't do anything. Usually, you can fish around and pull out the red strap, but if you canÂ't, simply pull up on the rear seat, and it will pop right out.

Follow the instructions included with the kit to repair the ropes, and be sure to melt each end of the rope to avoid fraying. You will need the hinge repair kit. Best bet is to check for fault codes, as the code will direct you to the cause. When I turn manually, it does turn but tries co come out when manually closing the top. Usually a switch will set a fault for not being in the right state. DonÂ't lower the roof if the cables are disconnectedÂ--the convertible roof top cover can catch the wind and fly open while youÂ're driving! If we get a chance to perform the procedure, we will be sure to document it.
While youÂ're in this area, check to make sure your convertible top motor screws are tight they were loose on my car when I checked them; yellow arrows. If not, you will likely have to break something to get it open. It requires the use of a rivet gun, but the repair is pretty straightforward and documented in the included instructions. It is not for lowering and when you re sync it you have done nothing toward solving your problem. The cover motor does not disengage and there is a lot of tension on it.
The compartment that holds the top when down is stuck closed, with my top up. Well, hard to say because it's not working at all!! Some trys it will work both ways. To disengage the convertible roof motors, pull the emergency release lever toward the front of the vehicle.
