I turned the truck off as the book said and then restarted. It looks great, runs great and just feels great to drive. Once in a while it would bind up when going very slow 4x4 when parking. While driving the truck for about 45 minutes to an hour and if stopping at a stop sign or red light the truck will not shift from first gear to second gear properly. The dealership attempted four repairs and it is not fixed. Once the truck does shift it is a very hard shift, and if on wet or slippery surfaces the truck will squall the tire.
Bought it in 2001 with 103k miles of highway miles. The transmission will default to max line pressure. Struggling to find all of the harnesses and connectors as you described. It will not hurt the car to drive it like this for short periods, but use manual 2nd to get the car moving, and be aware that the trans will generate more heat than normal while operating in limp-home mode due to increased torque converter slippage during 2nd gear starts and no lockup in 3rd gear. The interior has held up absolutely great, my only problem has been the arm rests tend to break where the black plastic alignment clips lock it into place. It'll still light them up no problem.
I could tell the difference as soon as I pulled it out of the garage. Since this time, when I pull the trailor for a long period of time, the truck will again feel as if it is in neutral. This would cause one bank to run to rich. I sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The child pulled the shift lever out of park and the truck ran away down an incline. This was not a component failure, but is a design failure that apparently involves all gm trucks and suvs of this model. My truck also has 267000km on it and it's still going.
Quite a bit of run on edges, but not unexpected for a cold weather climate with road salt. Have no rust issues at all. Ran the truck through a computer and got codes P0131 and P0151 back. Not every time but it happens quite often. The truck is a 1997 with 173,000 miles on her. There seem to be no other real issues with her. Also, had problems with the cd player.
The feel of the vehicle isn't right like if its dog tracking. It rides nicely although it's a little noisy on brick roads. The key was in the accessory position so they could listen to the radio. The fuel pumps aren't too much money, but it sucks taking off the gas tank to get to it. Good luck and hope this information helps. Transmission does not shift automatically, only manually.
Replacing the boost valve every 100,000 miles or less will make your transmission last a life time, as long as there is no hard parts break in the transmission. No oil added between changes. So from what I hear the fuel pump is something to replace. Struggling to find all of the harnesses and connectors as you described. So could this be a filter, transmission, torque converter, mass air flow, catalytic converter, engine misfire, or some other random type of problem? Divers side towards the tail end, Good luck and keep me posted. Could not repeat 4X problem and the system errors disappeared. Lucky,,, I guess but what a truck.
Found intake manifold gasket was bad, replaced and resulting higher coolant pressure caused water pump to fail. Scraping noise heard when braking. It sounds like your transmission is in limp mode. Have been with gm a few times and they came to the conclusion that they would send a representative to check out the truck. Just replaced the radiator on it for the first time.
I got an 81 code. There are clonking and ticking sounds coming from the transmission just from shifting from drive to reverse, reverse to drive. Dec 20, 2009 - I got an 81 code. I have never owned a truck like this before, I have had other brands, but I won't ever go back to them after driving this truck. The wife had the key in the ignition, turned to accessories while listening to the radio, and accidentally pushing the shifter down with car being off and vehicle moved backward, hitting the husband and injuring his knees. While pulling across three lanes of traffic the truck shifted properly and was almost hit by on coming cars. The contact stated that this happens while driving in any gear including reverse.
The erroneous speed indication causes an issue when going too slow or too fast in traffic. I do not hear the fuel pump cutting on and it won't start. Have replaced everything under hood except the engine. So the transmission may be alright, but is this still just a filter or catalytic converter problem? If the symptom returns replace that O2 sensor. In checking this truck, our 2003 tahoe, and our 2003 Chevrolet pickup we find that all of them: 1.
The truck had a transmission leak. I have never had any problems with it at all. Now, I do know that a bad catalytic converter can result in the same symptoms. I run 35 inch tires year round with out a problem and do a good bit of towing. The truck was my sole source of transportation for our first five years.
