Posted on Dec 14, 2009 Hi Al, for a list of the various types of trailer plugs and the standard functions of their respective pin outs. Running lights and brake controller work fine. I changed the turn signal relay under the dashboard on the drivers side of the dash with one from an escape that had a tow package one was blue and the other was yellow. Don't know if it changed later. Al Thank you for the excellent diagrams! Fuse 5 is the fuse for the parking lamps, and the reversing lamps.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions! Instrument Panel Fuses cab fuse panel by hood release 23 - trailer tow battery charge relay Nov 11, 2009 I had the sam problem with my '02 escape when I installed the hitch. Thanks - that's what I was thinking - but hoping there was something else to check. It's been sub-freezing here with plenty of snow on the ground, so I don't relish the thought of laying on frozen ground trying to trace wires under the truck! This is on page 142 in the owners 1997 manual, all the revisions for the 1998 owners manual I have seen do not include this fuse box for some reason. It's possible that this is the case here. Is there something else I can check before tracing the lines? That took care of the problem - I now have all trailer functions working correctly.
I have checked fuses, and one was blown, which I replaced to get running lights working. Thanks - that's what I was thinking - but hoping there was something else to check. This is the wiring diagram for the trailer tow park lamps Mar 09, 2010 There are a few fuses for the trailer tow adapter. The fuse to supply power to the Normally Open contacts on the trailer relays should be hot at all times. Not sure what you took a resistance reading from on the trailer tow adapter.
I have a 1997 Ford F150 4x4 Supercab Stepside with 5. But I still do not have brake or turn signals at the plug. Feb 16, 2014 Not sure which fuse you checked. Next is the trailer tow adapter park lamp relay. If you want, you can pull the trailer tow park lamp relay, and jumper the normally open contacts, which should provide power at the trailer tow adapters, regardless of the truck's lights. On the factory trailer wiring plug I am not getting power for turn signals or brake lights. That took care of the problem - I now have all trailer functions working correctly.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions! Depending on the type of trailer the package was designed for, the pin configurations do differ. . . . . .
