The 4L60-E is an automatic shift, four-speed overdrive, longitudinally positioned transmission. Place a jack stand under each corner of the frame to evenly distribute the weight. Fluid leak out of the front of trans where the converter connects; partial or full loss of movement: Front pump bushing walked out. Rear of transmission needs to be fixed. The only way to be sure is to remove the trans.
Sep 22, 2010 Well on a one piece shaft they are 90Deg so I would guess 90Deg on a two piece. The previous owner did some mudding so I'm getting sand in my eye with every turn of the ratchet, etc. If out of fluid, avoid running the engine until the transmission is refilled to avoid pump damage. Transmission must be removed and rebuilt. Try to wiggle driveshaft — if more than 0. If you cant fix it then dont mess with it.

To check for pump failure, check fluid level with the engine off, then start the engine and recheck fluid level. I pulled the pan yesterday and found this: About 8 paper towels worth of sludge there. Note that a leaking front seal usually means the bushing is walking out.
