The contact was able to continue to drive the vehicle to his destination. Many of these cars will be going off lease and the general public is not aware of this problem. When I am in stop-and-go traffic and press the accelerator pedal down smoothly to accelerate, the car does nothing for about 1-2 seconds. You cannot go wrong with this car. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000 and the current mileage was 59,496. I've owned Chevrolet, Lincoln and Saturn- they've been good cars too- but this is my dream car. Our primary problem is that Pipes does not trust their customers because they will deal in cash or debit cards only; no personal checks are accepted for items that cost several thousand dollars.
I've noticed as mentioned on several websites including fueleconomy. The handling is awesome, more so with the one I have over the base model because it has the 4 step adjustable electronic suspension, with 16 computer controlled varian. Besides the most obvious illuminated Check Engine Light, you could first notice if the engine is making some strange noises, then if the engine performance decreases. Going to have to respectfully disagree with you however on the synthetic oil opinion. While driving approximately 45 mph the vehicle down shifted intermittently into a lower gear and began to lunge forward. Even under hard acceleration there is no preignition pinging at all, with the odometer turning 77 000 km around 45 000 mi.
The car looks as great as it drives. Also, the vehicle would move forward on its own at times. I was told it is how the computers are in the car and they refuse to acknowledge this problem. I was told I would get used to this. The second time and new dealer said they fixed the problem.
My husband thought it wasn't safe so less than 8 months later we traded it in for a 2005 430 Lexus which has given us no problem. Therefore, I have to press harder on the gas so that I am not in a dangerous situation. After about a month of driving it, we noticed the transmission lagged when stepping on the accelerator. The problem causes a significant safety issue. Later when approaching a stop sign she applied brake pressure and the brakes failed to stop. This jerking motion and hesitation of the transmission is a common problem with my type of vehicle and has been known by Lexus to be a problem for the past 5 years, since 2002. Such a reliable and stable vehicle on the road.
The dealer was unable to determine what caused the failure. The problem is 100% reproducible at any time within the speed ranges and scenario described. The failure mileage was 25 and the current mileage was 20,000. I was initially told there was nothing wrong. I cannot agree with that conclusion.
The conclusion was that there were not enough complaints to launch an investigation. The transmission will not respond to the driver commands properly. Dealer states per a test drive that this behavior is per design specifications, and recommended the use of premium fuel per Lexus owner's manual, regular unleaded fuel is recommended. This problem is neither normal nor safe. Also, if while entering a highway, for example, the gas pedal is depressed, released and depressed again there is a much longer 2-3 second delay until power is delivered and to get proper upshifts and downshifts I have to shift the automatic transmission manually. Specific symptoms include reduction in gas mileage and power while acceleration.
Thank you for helping with the safety issue. Great for an old school guy like me. Some of the Lexus Es330 models have a serious transmission defect, but it appears to be a mechanical, not a software problem. I have put 50,000 kms on it. Has good power when needed.
I currently have about 3,900 miles on it. Happens only about 20% of the time but forces the driver to be vigilant constantly to avoid problems. Price should not be your concern but your vehicle's shape. She took the vehicle to the dealer, but they could not duplicate the failure and provide a remedy. Again, let me stress, I feel that the car is unsafe in making left hand turns with oncoming traffic. You will get a jolt and lack of power for a second and then quick speed. I no longer felt every gear shift.
I also went back to Lexus kearny mesa and spoke with the service dept. I have had 0 issues with it so far. The dealer advised they were aware of the failure in his year and model vehicle. I will have this car for a very very long time and doubt it would be replaceable! I have had it for over a year now. When we recieved normal services, I would ask about the acceleration and I was told that there were not any bulletins issued for the issue in which I spoke of.
It was love at first site. They would not fix my car until I threatened legal action. I believe this is a safety issue as it could cause an accident. More consistent acceleration, albeit still had somewhat of a delay. This was a safety issue.
